Tamale Enamel Pin

A tamale is a traditional dish in the Costa Rican cuisine made of masa (corn flour), and classic fillings such as pork or chicken, chickpeas, sweet peppers and olives. Because this is such an iconic dish for the Costa Rican families, some may elaborate their signature recipes and even add rice and carrots, among many other secret ingredients.

You can find tamales year-round in most supermarkets, but December is actually when they become an important part of the Holiday charm. Most families make this into a holiday tradition turning them into a sign that Christmas is here.
